Hamburger Macarons
Americans love things that are actually other things.
For the “burger” part, I melted an ounce of dark chocolate and added a tablespoon of powdered sugar. The “cheese” is coconut that I put in a food processor with yellow food dye. You could also use fondant, or yellow frosting. I didn’t have red food dye, but if you wanted some red frosting “ketchup”, that would look swell too.
The recipe for the macarons themselves are from David Leibowitz. Just omit the cocoa for the white cookie “buns”, and I’ve started using 3 egg whites instead of the two he recommends. It gives them a better gloss.
These are awesome 😀
I’m planning on learning how to make macaroons this summer, hopefully they’ll look as good as yours x
How cute!!! And I need to try out making macaroons..I feel in love with the Laduree ones when I went to Paris! Also very jealous of your camera…
Love it all, not only the cutest macarons in the world, (love David Leibovitz) and loving the hip camera. Too cool for school 🙂
I love old cameras! I’ve collected quite a few over the years. Enjoy.
What a fab idea these are great and really fun. They’d go down well at a party as a little suprise pudding!
these are way too brilliant! almost too cute to eat… almost…
Omg I absolutely love this idea! It is awesome. I love your site too…. I will bookmark you ^^
I love thrifting. I also love these macarons, in part I’m sure because they do indeed resemble other things 😉 They’re so unique and thus intriguing to me. I’m featuring this in today’s Food Fetish Friday (with a link-back and attribution). I hope you have no objections and it’s always fun to be following along with your creations…
